About the workshop

This intensive 4 day workshop on November 22-25th 2018 in Amsterdam is designed for visual artists to start creating interactive and generative visuals using the Unity 3D Game Engine. Taught by experienced VJ and media artist Fader, in this intimate hands-on workshop you will learn to create real-time visual environments on your computer. At the completion you will have a good understanding of the Unity workflow including scene building and basic knowledge of C# programming. This workshop series is limited to only 12 seats, to make sure everyone gets personal 1-on-1 quality interaction and coaching.

Unity 3D is one of most popular game engines (developer tool) available in the market today. It has a free license model where you can compile your application for VR, mobile, and desktop platforms. With large active user community, it makes Unity a very good choice for none programmers and artists to experiment and start using it as their creative development tool.

Requirements
Programming experience is NOT required. However, previous Processing, Openframeworks, Quartzcomposer or other coding experience is a plus. Please bring with you the following to the workshop:

Organizer
VjAcademy, located in Amsterdam, is the first dedicated postgraduate school for live video performers and video artists, aka VJs. The school involves renowed guest lecturers like Angelo, Eboman and the late legendary Peter Rubin, and partners like Resolume, Roland and Pioneer. Instructor 

Fader (James Cui) is a talented multi-media artist and VJ specializing in Stage Design, software development and Video Mapping. Over the past decade, Fader has contributed to many big festivals such as Coachella, Burning Man, Insomniac, Fuji Rock, Mapping Festival, Backwoods and Intro Music Festival.

At the moment, while busy with the role of CEO, he continues to freelance as a VJ and stage designer to share with people his passion for audiovisual. Additionally, he’s been teaching video mapping, Processing and Unity 3D to like-minded artists. Fader succesfully brought this Unity course to London, Berlin and Cape Town before.
